The suspect, pictured above, walked behind the counter and wielded a handgun at the E. Edgar Road location around 4:30 a.m. Monday, Linden Police said in a Wednesday release.

The man fled toward Elizabeth after demanding money from the store clerk, who was not hurt during the incident, police said.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set Black man approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing black sweat pants with a white stripe across his thigh, a black mask, and a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Investigators believe the suspect may have been driving a black, newer-model Subaru Impreza with a temporary license plate in the rear window.
